Versions

  • Original version: the one released on Itanshinmon and BUTABEST 2.
  • Majotachi no Ongakushitsu (as well as its pre-release disc Music Room vol.3) features an instrumental rearrangement by Paprika.
  • [↑GROOVY↑]: a fast-paced rock arrangement. It was released on Guerrilla.

Musically, this song is influenced by “Rise”, the opening theme of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG.

Ranko (about the Guerrilla version): It has a faster or perhaps stronger feeling over the original song. The refrain of this one was surprisingly easy to sing, and it feels good to sing it. I also love the way I sang the nuwaaa in the second verse.

Lyrics

zutto kou tte iwaretemo zutto kou no saki no hou
dokkara datte mienai
shuuen no hakanasa to eien no ruupu shidou
docchi kattatte erabenai

hana wa karete ochiteku

katachi aru mono wa izure kowarete
kie yuku kara koso utsukushii
kioku no naka dake ni ikiru koto ga
kegareru koto naku utsukushii
towa koso ga shi

yokkakatta unmei to topparatta karuma nara
docchi ka nante kaze makase

hoshi wa okusen wo koe

kie yuku mono nado yowaki mono da to ayashige na yoru ga sasayaite
“makeinu orokamono yowamushi ka” to
atama no oku kara kodama suru
te no naka no shi

tadashii kotae wa dochira na no deshou?
tadashii to wa nanna no deshou?
tada ano toki no anata no egao ga
nani yori nani yori itooshii

katachi aru mono wa izure kowarete
kie yuku kara koso utsukushii
kioku no naka dake ni ikiru koto ga
kegareru koto naku utsukushii
towa koso ga shi

Translation

Translated by Anonymous Karakasa

I was told it’s always been like this, but I cannot see
How it came to be.
The transience of death or the activation of an eternal loop…
I can’t choose between them.

The flowers wither, their petals falling.

Things with a shape will eventually break –
They’re beautiful because they’re transient.
If you live only inside of my memories
It allows you to remain untainted and beautiful.
Eternity itself is – Death.

If I had to choose between the fate I leaned on and the karma I threw away…
I’d leave it to the wind.

The stars number several million.

“Vanishing things are weak”, the mysterious night whispers.
“Are you a loser, a fool or a coward?”,
It echoes within my head.
In my hands I hold – Death.

Now what is the right answer?
Now what is right in the first place?
All I can say for sure is
Your smile from back then is more precious than anything.

Things with a shape will eventually break –
They’re beautiful because they’re transient.
If you live only inside of my memories
It allows you to remain untainted and beautiful.
Eternity itself is – Death.
