Hello guys, it’s been a while!
I haven’t been doing anything for this website in the last few months, and I honestly don’t feel the need to report every single news anymore, or even work on articles. But I have been creating pages for the new songs (and adding lyrics + translation wherever possible), and keeping the list of songs updated…
Anyway, here is an update since we finally have some news that made me super excited!
The original-only live KOTOHOGI is coming in a few days!! As reported in the previous post, the new original album Pinball will be released there. There is no XFD yet, but I wrote some hype notes in the server.
Six tracks is actually a nice number that reminds me of the major albums. Heck, this one reminds me of Furubokko in a sense! You have the 3 entirely new songs including a title track, the re-arrange/re-record, and two songs that were previously teased in the past.
What I am expecting the songs to sound like:
2. Pinball: it’s the title track, so it’s gonna be standard fare
3. Otona Gum (Pinball mix): Notice how it’s called “mix” and not “ver.” You know which other song was called “album mix” in the whole discography? Namida Tojikometa Sora in Folie a Deux, which is absolutely not different from its original release in the Hifuu end compilation Senshuuraku. Basically, I think Otona Gum will sound the same overall, and we could say it’s there just that Buta has an excuse to digitally release the other Fanbook song (since Kiraware is in in the original best)
5. D.T.R.M: Makes me think about Denkare LOL But I’m also pretty sure the title is “detarame” (デタラメ) written stylishly. Expecting it to be weird sounding. If it was a ballad, they would have wrote the title in katakana/hiragana, not… in a way similar to a certain Mara song.
6. Attara ii na: I’m expecting this one to be a ballad, but then I remembered Mou Ashita nanka Iranai. But I think the album should have a ballad, and Buta usually put slow tracks either in the middle (and again, I’m not expecting Otona Gum to become a ballad or something that deviates from its original sound) or at the end of the album.
Now, is there anything that happened during these months? Well, besides of lives here and there…
- Nanase Aikawa released her new minialbum, SPARKLE. Comp composed and arranged all the songs!
- A couple of new songs were made for Konami’s rhythm games. The first one is Danmaku Shinkou (弾幕信仰), a new arrangement of Minoriko’s theme + minor MoF tracks made in collaboration with PON, an in-house KONAMI artist. It has been added to various Bemanis as part of the Gensoukyou Ongakusai 2024 event.
- The other song is a new original for pop’n music, called DOKIDOKI☆Shooting Star (DOKIDOKI☆シューティングスター). Yes, this is an actual BUTAOTOME song title. Talk about evolution! You might expect a cutesy-sounding song from a title like that, but don’t let it fool you!
- For other rhythm games, we got some of the usual Touhou songs added here and there, but the one that made me happy is Gensou no Satellite in Arcaea! You might already know that Arcaea is my favorite rhythm game (and every major update is truly an e x p e r i e n c e), and while I would have preferred an original song, I’m still happy Buta is finally there, and with one of the better Touhou songs!
- Oh yeah, Ane managed to recover her Twitter account!
And that’s all. Time to go back to my hideout (and wait for my Christmas package, last update was on the 5th…). Also, I’ll probably write an end-of-the-year post where I’ll give short reviews to all the things released this year!
