Post revised on November 24, 2020. This post has been (almost entirely) retranslated. I’ve also included the parts of the original post that were not relevant to the Majotachi no Ongakushitsu and Daihinmin commentaries.

Good evening, Ranko here.
It’s May~~~
It was said to be as hot as summer during Golden Week, but it’s been cold recently for the first time in 25 years, and it’s making me feel physically and mentally crazy. That’s the feel. It’s a good idea to take it easy.

Now, this time, I’d like to write a little bit about the new albums, as I mentioned last time, and the lyrics I wrote for them.
It will be a long post, but I hope you’ll follow along.

First of all, here is the first release.

Track 2 “Sono Saki no Oku”
The Grimoire of Alice is the original theme, so I thought about PC-98 Alice, the so-called Lolice.
When she lost and re-appeared as EX boss, she fought with the ultimate magic, but despite that, she still lost, isn’t that really frustrating? I thought so, and since Alice in PCB doesn’t seem to be a different person (and because I’m one of those who connect PC-98 canon to Windows canon), I wonder if she abandoned everything, changed just about everything, and came to Gensokyo for the sake of victory at any rate~. Actually, I’m jealous of Alice’s fighting spirit~.
Those were the lyrics.

Track 4 “Yozakura Hanami”
Magus Night is the original theme, so the lyrics are about Cirno and Marisa.
When I wrote the lyrics for “Revoleader Align”, which has the same original theme, I depicted the seriousness in the middle of the battle, so I wanted to write it in a different shape this time.
After Fairy Wars, Marisa and Cirno played danmaku many times under the night cherry blossom, but Marisa is human, so she will eventually become old and lose to Cirno one day.
Among the fairies and youkai who hold Marisa’s hand at her sickbed, Cirno becomes one she recognizes as a strong enemy, and that’s the song. No matter how many times I reflect upon them, there are dreams in stories about the lifespan of different species.

Track 7 “Sukoshi Mukashi no Ohanashi”
Since the original theme is Majotachi no Butoukai, this is a story about PC-98 Marisa, or rather, Seihou Marisa.
I interpret her to be in the same time axis of PC-98, so I wonder if she has Marisa’s personality, or rather Malisa~, or if she grew wings because she was a demon~ or if there is anything related to possibly being Mima’s child~; I wrote the first part as I dreamed up these things, and the second part is the Windows version.
The danmaku rules were made and she was having fun with them, but then her demonic self started to show up. It wants to fight with real magic and hurt people.
The lyrics are a result of a tremendous fabrication and delusion to seal up such a self because she wanted to pretend it doesn’t exist. Marisa-chan is made of dreams and sweets.

Track 10 “outcast”
It’s a song about that person whose name has not been heard recently. No, will Mima really come back? (・ω・`)
When I wrote lyrics for the previous arrangement of the same theme, it was a song about a pitiful Mima who wasn’t recognized by Marisa, but this time it doesn’t have a sad feeling, it’s refreshing. It’s a song about going on a journey without being noticed by anybody.
I wonder how those who stopped the moon came back to normal… That’s very interesting… Mima…

Continuing here.

Track 2 “Kamitsu Setai Messiah”
It’s an arrangement of Chi no Iro wa Kiiro and Red and White.
I got the idea of the lyrics from my sis “you can make a song about the shrine” and so, I thought the number of people at the shrine increases every time an incident is solved… given this, I wrote a Reimu song.
Actually, I have a headcanon that the shrine has been always filled with youkai even during the generations before Reimu. But it’s eternally poor.

Track 3 “In The Black”
Being an arrange of Fukamidori no Tanukimori nite, I wrote it with the MIB attribute that has been recently added to Mamizou. …but, the MIB (I never watched the movies) will erase my memories~ if I see aliens~; from there, I tried to connect it to the story of Cthulhu Mythos, which I’m recently into. It has a lot of alien creatures named gods.
In Cthulhu, if you see those creatures, you lose SAN points (something like sanity) and you go crazy in a certain period of time if you lose a certain value.
“I saw alien things I should haven’t seen, but now the Men In Black will come to erase my memories, wait those were the gods of Cthulhu Mythos, they can’t erase my memories~ Oh noes~,” they say this as they completely fall into madness; that’s the song.

Track 4 “Kurukuru Tsukai”
It’s an arrangement of Eien ni Tsudzuku Kairou and Invisible Full Moon.
When I’ve heard that Udonge’s urban legend in ULiL was the Kunekune, it was what I wanted to do with the lyrics, but I couldn’t help but think that I didn’t trust her sanity very much and that she’s actually always been crazy, so that’s what the lyrics are about.
I’m sure Teruyo is also like that, but I think Udonge is even worse.
They say “it’s easy to pretend to be mad”, but that’s because they are really mad.

Track 5 “Tomodachi wa Mizu no Naka”
It’s a Candid Friend arrangement.
Nessie is Nitori’s urban legend in ULiL and I got the idea from my sis too. This is a song from Nessie’s viewpoint.
It was a lonely and miserable creature born from humans’ talks and delusion, and as time passed it was forgotten and went to Gensokyo, but since there was Nitori, it was fine.
While I was writing this, I felt a lot of empathy towards Nessie and I came to think it was very cute.

That’s it.
I was glad to write various types of lyrics this time!

I’ve written a lot of text, so here are some pictures.
I was with nomico the other day! I heard that she liked Golden Kamuy for a long time, and I was watching the currently airing anime and found it interesting~ so I told her that and we decided to go to eat Ainu cuisine (・∀・) And we went (・∀・)

This is “Harukoro”, the only Ainu restaurant in Tokyo. Asirpa~!

These are meat rolls with Siberian onions, also called Kitopiro. These onions are similar to green onions. The rolls were delicious.

Deer round steaks! They were healthy, juicy and delicious!

There were also ohaw (a delicious soup and haskap juice (・∀・)
You should make a reservation if you want to go there because the number of seats is very small.

After that, I had a live concert today.
We performed at CONNECT Kabukicho, a touring festival in Shinjuku, at RUIDO K4. I was so happy to see so many new faces. It was a lot of fun!

Taken before the rehearsal
This is the second time I’ve performed at K4, and I like the place, it’s easy to work with and the staff is friendly~. I’d like to perform there again.

Thanks to the manager for inviting us among so many participants~!

Our next live is in two weeks, in Taiwan! Looking forward to it.

Thank you for reading this long post!
Ranko.
