Original post [free to read]
A translation of Ane’s latest blog post, where she talks about the latest PV for Hakidasu Aka among other things.
TL note: I know this sounds like some kind of “keikaku means plan” meme, but “kiatsu” means “atmospheric pressure”. If you follow BUTAOTOME members on Twitter, you probably have noticed that they constantly talk about 気圧, blame it for everything bad and post screenshots from the Zutool app. Because of this, I translate it and refer to it as “The Kiatsu” to make it sound like some kind of evil entity. This was also the basis of that weird post back on April 1st. But it’s not just a Pig thing, “atmospheric pressure’s fault” (気圧のせい) was trending on Twitter Japan a few days ago.
The Kiatsu, temperatures, pollen, and other things… I don’t know about you, but everyone around me seems to be in bad shape. The world is cursed, the past is cursed, the progress is cursed…
Ane here.
I feel like I’ve been hearing a lot of interesting curses lately. Occasionally I’ll hear a curse-time person say, “You know, “I’m good friends with everyone! I want to get along with everyone! Therefore, I am in the majority! In a true democracy, I would win!”, but have you ever been sure of that in your life?”, and the answer is usually “I dunno…”. I’m not saying this to kick the corpse, but… I’m just trying to make the starting line clear.
Also, I’m not talking about curses being bad or anything like that. The absence of anger is also a form of corruption.
And no matter what form it takes, living is made of curses.
I don’t know if it’s because I’m talking like this unconsciously or what, but more and more people ask me, “Are you tired?”
I don’t know if I’m tired or not, but…. That being said, there are times when I’m like “I slept super well! The weather is good, and it’s a miracle I’m fully charged!” and times when I’m tired… Wouldn’t it be better to have a perspective on life that’s as consistent as possible? Isn’t that right? In reality, it depends on The Kiatsu…
So I start talking about “curses” in the middle of the day when there’s already a beautiful weather.
I wonder if I’m going crazy from staying at home so much.
The intro of this post was slow, but the music video has been released, right?
No, it was not released. I did release it
My sister sang an amazing song with amazing lyrics, so I got the idea and made it.
Even though none of the members asked me “make it”. They didn’t even give me a hint.
Eventually, when it was pretty much finished, I showed it to the members and they said, “You made it…”. Is this how you want to run your group?
Also, I’m pretty busy right now, but…
It’s been 6 years since I’ve made a music video by myself.
In the beginning, I used to make songs as I went along, but because of that, there were a few times when people would say in the comments, “I wish you had done that instead of this.” and I’ve settled for (okay, well, I’ll do the opposite). What a kid.
Even the one I made 6 years ago chronologically is the one I did because I got over it and had an idea.
So I forgot about the concept of “making a video” without any issue, and when it came to “making a music video”, it was almost as clear as possible.
I’ve been going against the grain of what the video media demands…
But it’s nice to do something different when one feels like it.
Also, I know it’s a little late to be talking about how to use a video software, but seriously, I don’t know much about it, so I’d like to learn how to use it. Studying is a good thing.
I’ve recently realized that when I open my mouth, the line between motive and purpose is completely blurred, and it’s easy to make people feel uneasy, but I can’t help it since I’ve started writing blogs and such.
“I wanted money for my enjoyment”
I tend to make this kind of statement. Are they directly from my brain? I come from a country where there is no concept of strategy.
I’ve been doing a lot of gloomy reading to tune my brain to 1884 Shanghai.
That’s what got me to start reading Riichi Yokomitsu, even though I hadn’t read him before…
The Complete Works of Riichi Yokomitsu (Amazon JP link)
When I thought it was strange that I couldn’t finish it at all, I noticed it was a total of 1631 pages. It’s a type of book that can only be read in electronic form and cannot exist in physical form.
I wonder if it’s okay to read such an amazing thing for free forever.
It’s been a long time since I’ve made a music video, but I don’t know what to say, so I go off on a tangent.
I can talk a lot about the song, but… I did the video, so I don’t know… I just pretend not to see it… Well, I guess you don’t know what I’m talking about.
By the way, I don’t know what I’m talking about either, so don’t worry.
Anyway, I was happy because I’ve never focused on a background character song before.
We’re all background characters, aren’t we? In that sense, I was able to empathize with them quite well.
As for this video, it’s a normal secondary work, so my actual visits to Shanghai really worked for me. I am proud of this. It was a lot of fun.
We also had the opportunity to perform several times. I walked through the remnants of the concession area and passed by the Shanghai Great World. In Shanghai, there are many people who feel like urban kids! And a sense of modernity has taken root. The waitresses at the trendy cafes are all fluent in English. I even felt the pride of a city boy.
I had actually thought a lot about the Shanghai Concession and the late Qing Dynasty before, and created something.
Here it is.
I didn’t really have any intention of communicating this concept to others, or rather, I thought it was fine if it was clear in my mind, but this CD was unusually popular in Shanghai. It’s several times better than other CDs. I mean, if we wanted to, we could even play a somber song at a live concert and it would be a boom.
It was a moment of complete “getting the message”. I’m happy about that kind of thing.
It meant something, even the gloomy readings that were held during that time…
This time, as an overview of the video, I took the concept of background characters, who may have seen a girl named Alice in the concession area in Meiji 17, and reconstructed it as a mass. Background characters, even if they gather a hundred of them, they are still just background characters. Nameless people.
When you create something, all you can say is, “Please listen, please watch”. Come by and have a look.
On another note.
I guess my conceptual talks are useful to people sometimes. I’m pretty good at catching little flying winged insects. Leave it to me.
