Music Games

Original picture used for the Discography page: link

In 2012 BUTAOTOME started to slowly conquer the music game territories, with both game cuts of their known hits and commissioned songs. This page tracks down all their contributions in rhythm games and offers English information about their availability outside of Japan. Please note that this page only has official licenses. Fanmade stuff where anything can be put (such as osu! or StepMania) is not taken in consideration.

Each song is listed in a chronological release order and they also have a link to their respective song page in this website (with the exception of instrumental tracks and songs by other artists with just Comp or Ranko’s involvement). The ★ symbol indicates a song (or re-arrange) made for the game. The ■ symbol indicates a big collaboration song, where BUTAOTOME contributed on a small part of it.

Arcade games

Rhythm games are very popular in Japanese arcades. Some of them might be able to be exported to USA and other Asian countries. To find out if there is any arcade next to you with your favourite game, check out ZIv’s arcade map!

Typically, one play for a rhythm game is 100/200 yen for 3 songs. You can play them as guest, but if you want to save your progress and use online services, a specific card is required. These cards can be purchased in the arcade for 300/400 yen and different cards are required for games by different publishers: KONAMI needs e-AMUSEMENT, Sega needs AiME, TAITO needs NESiCA and Bandai Namco needs Banapassport.

Each game in the list is accompanied by the name of its current version, unless they are at their very first version. Games marked with “discontinued” mean that they are no longer updated and their online services have been terminated. However, they can be still playable in guest mode if their machine has not been converted to another game.
